INTERVIEW WITH THE PRESIDENT OF SWEET RELATIONSHIP NETWORK ON SWEET RELATIONSHIP MENTORING PROGRAMME AND OTHER BURNING ISSUES BY ZONEHOUSE.

ZH:      Welcome to ZoneHouse Ma.

Dr. Of Love:   Thank you for having me. I love the feel of your studio.

ZH:      Thank you...please tell us about yourself.
Dr. Of Love:   I have many sides. My name is Margaret Inusa Meka, I have two adorable children, Victor and Stephanie Meka. I am the founder and president of Sweet Relationship Network and the host of the Sweet Relationship Show on Peace 90.5 FM, every Saturday by 8:30pm.  I am also the Senior Pastor of a world-class Ministry, Glorious Life Int’l Church, here in Jos. I am an NLP expert and recently initiated a relationship and marriage mentoring programme, the Sweet Relationship Mentoring Programme.

My greatest passion and desire is to see a better society where relationship and marriages are enjoyed, a society where people discover their purposes in life and use them to serve others, a society that honours God.
So you see why I am a relationship strategist and love expert? You can just simply call me the Dr. Of Love.

ZH:      Indeed you are of many sides. Let’s talk about the recent initiative, the Sweet Relationship Mentoring Programme.

Dr. Of Love:   To understand why you must first look around. Just imagine the kind of statistics we have on divorce, in fact, that of Nigeria is becoming more and more worrisome. Outside the outright divorce cases, we also have those who their marriages have broken irretrievably but they still live together because of the culture of shame. Available research has proven that in most cases of broken relationships, the problem is not the people involved, but how they (the man and woman) handle their challenges, because people always do the best with what they know.

So Sweet Relationship Mentoring Programme is an idea I conceived to help people in relationship and marriage to build relationship skills that will help them manage the different challenges that they may face in their relationships.
The programme is designed as a four-contact session. Meaning you must go through four classes before you can complete the programme and get certified. In each of the contacts we discuss variety of issues in a workbook/discussion format like self discovery, identity and how to manage identity crises, purpose and relationship, emotional intelligence, communication skills, capacity building for businesses, networking. Our resources persons are drawn from the best pool of self development experts and many more.
So you see, this is a total package for both singles and married.

ZH:      That’s quite interesting and intense. So tell me Dr, is it free?

Dr. Of Love:   No! You can’t expect such a package to come free (laughs)...the registration is N5000.

ZH:      That’s honestly fair. But this is my worry Dr, there are countless programmes, books and platforms for relationship and marriage, yet relationships and marriage keep going from bad to worse?

Dr. Of Love:   eehmm....that’s quite deep and an in-depth explanation and analysis is needed and time and space will not permit me, but for the purpose of your concern, I’ll try to give some important reasons.

First reason why most relationship and marriages don’t work despite relationship seminars, workshops and shows, is that most times we neglect the first and most important relationship, our relationship with God. You see, it is not possible for your relationship or marriage to work if your relationship with God is not put in proper perspective. When God created us, he wanted to establish a relationship with man; He made us for His pleasure. And so when we fall out of favour with our Maker, it is impossible for other things and humans created by Him to be in favour with us. I mean, the person you want to love or who you are in love with is a product of this same God you have rejected. When you are not in a good relationship with God, everything will surely fall apart no matter how hard you try.

This is why, in every of our programme, on radio, television or event, we make sure to emphasize that every good relationship must first begin with your relationship with God, without this foundation, if you like become an expert in Emotional Intelligence, learn all the love languages, make all the romantic moves, your relationship will still fail, for except the Lord builds a house, the builder builds in vain.

The second reason is identity. Most people enter into relationships or marriage without first discovering who they are and because they have not answered the identity question, they choose partners that have little or nothing to do with their real self, partners who will not add value to their personality, purpose and destiny. When you are in this kind of situation, issues and crises that are not necessary will surely arise.
Because of identity problem, what a partner may agree to today, he or she will disagree the next day and this creates a continuous tension, fighting, quarrelling, anger, bitterness and regrets. The worst case scenario is when both of you are already married. Honestly, I don’t pray any man or woman finds him/herself in that kind of situation...oh God! It is hell. Unfortunately, most marriages are in exactly this kind of condition.

So you see, even if you expose people to a lot of skills, it is very difficult to satisfy a person who can hardly satisfy him/herself. In fact, you need to see the look on people’s faces at our last Sweet Relationship Mentoring class during their work session on self discovery and identity; you could see their surprise and struggles as they try to understand themselves through the workbook.

That is why I strongly suggest in our network that you must learn relationship skills by unlearning everything wrong about relationship and marriage.

...NOTE- THIS IS THE FIRST PART OF THE INTERVIEW THE CONCLUDING PART WILL BE PUBLISHED IN TWO WEEKS TIME.
